II.2.4) Description of procurement: The scope will require supply of traditional cover and frames in addition to cover only for fire hydrants.

Cover and Frames, (including Manhole, Toby, SV, FH covers etc.) should be to BS EN 124 (or agreed equivalent) and be compliant with CD 534 in according with the following classifications:
•B125 for footways, pedestrian areas and comparable areas.
•C250 for car parks or similar
•D400 for carriageways (Minimum depth of frames for NRSWA road categories are shown in Appendix XI of Sewers for Scotland)
•E600/F900 where required for abnormally high loadings

C&F’s shall be of a non-rocking design which does not rely on the use of cushion inserts.
C&F’s are to be compatible with a flowable mortar as per SW installation guide.
MHC&F’s that utilise a double triangular cover should have factory installed retaining bolts as a safety feature to prevent accidental injury.
MHC&F’s Vented and lockable covers should be available
MHC&F’s shall have Safety Grids or sealing plate available on request
MHC&F’s with a clear opening exceeding 1m2 shall provide minimum performance as stated in BS EN 124.
All works need to comply with The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) as amended by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005.
